Let’s spend the day trip with the Hadzabe tribe residence, ancient hunter-gatherers who inhabit the land nearby Lake Eyasi, a gorgeous soda lake that’s part of the Great Rift Valley of East Africa. You will be having the opportunity to engage with the Hadzabe people and learn all about hunting techniques, survival skills, food preparation and learning their cultural norms. Hadzabe people search food alone, and return home with golden honey, sweet fruit, or hearty wild animals (meat) when discovered (hunted). Women go out in large groups and forage for bright berries, baobab fruit, and tubers, depending on availability the such variety of snacks as their sources of food. In the rainy, wet season, sweet honey is the main staple of their diet along with colorful fruit, tubers, and hunted meat. Adjusting their diets to the seasons this tribe are incredibly skilled, selective and opportunistic seekers. They have only themselves to rely on to feed their families and tribe.
Early in the morning you will wake up and start a journey from Arusha (recommended because of the length of the journey) or Moshi at around 4 AM so that you reach at Lake Eyasi near Ngorongoro Crater at around 11 AM. You will start experiencing the Hadzabe cultural trip involving learning about hunting, survival skills learning, food preparation and learning about their cultural norms. In the late afternoon, you will start a journey back to Moshi/Arusha for your rest.
The word “Marangu” means a place with too many water streams. This is one of the most popular places in Tanzania. Early in the morning after a breakfast you will be picked up from Arusha/Moshi to Marangu village where you will start a walking tour through Marangu village and visiting the local Black smith. You will experience the cultural acts at Marangu village such as preparing coffee locally, local lunch, local beer made from banana as well as Marangu cultural dance and their cultural norms that you will learn. After some hours, you will hike down to the Marangu waterfall/Ndoro at which you will experience swimming
Marangu waterfalls are located in the Kilimanjaro National Park, at the base of the Mount Kilimanjaro. The source of the Marangu waterfalls come is from the glaciers on top of Mount Kilimanjaro. 6 to 7 hours approximately will allow you to explore about the Marangu or Ndoro waterfalls adventure. About 40-minute is enough to drive from Arusha/Moshi town, from which you have a very nice view on Mount Kilimanjaro (especially in Moshi), located in the beautiful country side of Marangu surrounded by lush landscapes, you will find this hidden Marangu waterfall.
Maasai Tribal Village is situated in the Western Part of Kilimanjaro area and called ‘Olpopongi’. Your day trip to the Maasai cultural tribe can include a museum & village tour / Traditional Maasai Lunch and Learning about hunting and about natural medicine.
Pick up from your hotel Moshi/Arusha after breakfast and drive to Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village at which you will get to view Maasai Boma. It will take 2 hours’ drive to the Olpopongi Maasai village. While you arrive at the village you will spend your day in the Maasai-Village Olpopongi and share the Maasai life Village Tour, traditional Lunch, walking tour in the Maasai village and learning about Maasai hunting techniques and incredible natural medicine, also you will get to view how they make Maasai jewelry they sale where you may also ask one of them just buying them. After the tour drive back to Arusha/Moshi.
Materuni is the one of the Chagga tribes and is still an authentic tribal village, charming place which is just 15km away from Moshi Town and is the last village under the Kilimanjaro National Park. You will be picked up in Moshi/Arusha in the morning to Materuni village to experience cultural trip with the Materuni waterfalls, by your guide who will be with you to Materuni Village destination. Upon arrival, you will register at the village office and your trip exploration begins.
Firstly, you will visit the Materuni waterfalls, which are around a 40-minute walk away from the village. On the way, your guide will tell you about the Chagga cultural tribe, village life and explain the surrounding fauna and flora. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck you will see the Mount Kilimanjaro summit area. The pool at the bottom of the Materuni waterfalls is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so do not forget your swim!
