AN OVERVIEW ABOUT 8-DAY LEMOSHO ROUTE TREKKING KILIMANJARO

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi/Arusha

Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha.
Attend a pre-climb briefing with your guide for an equipment check and safety instructions.
Overnight at your hotel, with dinner included.

Day 2: Moshi/Arusha to Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

• Elevation: 2,100m (Londorossi Gate) to 2,820m (Mti Mkubwa Camp)
• Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
• After registration at Londorossi Gate, drive to the trailhead and begin trekking through the pristine rainforest.
• Watch for Colobus monkeys and other wildlife.
• Overnight at Mti Mkubwa Camp (Big Tree Camp) with dinner.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

• Elevation: 2,820m to 3,610m
• Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
• Hike through moorland, crossing ridges and valleys, with stunning views of the Shira Plateau.
• Overnight at Shira 1 Camp with dinner.

Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

• Elevation: 3,610m to 3,850m
• Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
• Continue across the Shira Plateau, enjoying spectacular vistas and acclimatizing to the altitude.
• Overnight at Shira 2 Camp with dinner.

Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

• Elevation: 3,850m to 4,630m (Lava Tower) and descent to 3,950m (Barranco Camp)
• Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
• Gain altitude at Lava Tower, a key acclimatization point, before descending to Barranco Camp.
• Overnight at Barranco Camp with dinner.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

• Elevation: 3,950m to 4,640m
• Hiking Time: 7–8 hours
• Tackle the Barranco Wall and proceed to Karanga Camp for a short break.
• Continue to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit.
• Overnight at Barafu Camp with an early dinner and rest.

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

• Elevation: 4,640m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) and descent to 3,080m (Mweka Camp)
• Hiking Time: 10–14 hours
• Begin the summit attempt at midnight. Reach Uhuru Peak for sunrise, the highest point in Africa.
• Descend to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
• Overnight at Mweka Camp with dinner.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi/Arusha

• Elevation: 3,080m to 1,650m
• Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
• Complete the descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
• Collect your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi/Arusha for a celebration dinner and relaxation.
