AN OVERVIEW ABOUT 7-DAY MACHAME ROUTE TREKKING KILIMANJARO

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi/Arusha

Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha
Attend a pre-climb briefing and equipment check with your guide.
Overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: Moshi/Arusha to Machame Gate to Machame Camp

• Elevation: 1,800m (Machame Gate) to 2,835m (Machame Camp)
• Hiking Time: 5–7 hours
• Begin trekking through the lush rainforest, encountering stunning flora and wildlife.
• Overnight at Machame Camp, with dinner provided.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

• Elevation: 2,835m to 3,750m
• Hiking Time: 4–6 hours
• Leave the rainforest behind and hike through moorland, enjoying views of Kibo Peak.
• Overnight at Shira Camp with dinner.

Day 4: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

• Elevation: 3,750m to 4,630m (Lava Tower) and descent to 3,950m (Barranco Camp)
• Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
• This day is critical for acclimatization. Reach Lava Tower, then descend to Barranco Camp to adjust to the altitude.
• Overnight at Barranco Camp with dinner.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (Optional) to Barafu Camp

• Elevation: 3,950m to 4,640m
• Hiking Time: 6–8 hours
• Climb the Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding section, and continue to Karanga Camp for lunch.
• Proceed to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt
• Overnight at Barafu Camp with dinner.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

• Elevation: 4,640m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) and descent to 3,080m (Mweka Camp)
• Hiking Time: 10–14 hours
• Start the summit climb at midnight to reach Uhuru Peak by sunrise. Celebrate your achievement and descend to Mweka Camp for rest.
• Overnight at Mweka Camp with dinner.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi/Arusha

• Elevation: 3,080m to 1,650m
• Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
• Complete the descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
• Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi/Arusha for celebration and relaxation.
